Emma Funk is a 3-sport athlete for the Elverado Falcons. She has participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball in all four years of high school.
Through her three years in softball, Emma hit for a .376 average, eight home runs, 15 doubles, and 10 triples. She knocked in 46 runs and came across home plate 89 times in her career. Her junior season was a particularly breakout year with a .437 average and five home runs across 27 games.
“Emma is both an outstanding athlete in 3 sports, plus an incredible student academically,” says Elverado Athletic Director Jacob Emling. “She deserves to be recognized for all her hard work over the last four years, despite what is happening right now with the coronavirus.”

Q: What moment in your high school athletic career sticks out most to you?
A: The moment that sticks out to me would be my sophomore year of softball when we beat Steeleville in the regional championship at Vergennes!
Q: How have you and your teammates tried to keep in contact despite the coronavirus?
A: My teammates and I have kept in contact through texting and snapchatting.
Q: How has the coronavirus affected your view on sports?
A: The Coronavirus has caused me to realize to never take anything for granted. Sports have always been a part of my life so it’s definitely a strange time.
Q: Once the pandemic is over with and life gets back to normal, what are you most looking forward to?
A: I’m looking forward to being able to see everyone in person again! Especially my friends.
Q: What goals do you have for yourself post-graduation, sports-related or life-related?
A: After graduation I will be attending Greenville University in the Fall.
