Du Quoin Athletics return to action Tuesday after positive COVID-19 test last week

Monday afternoon, Du Quoin Athletic Director Derek Beard confirmed that the Indians would restart their summer workout programs on Tuesday after a positive COVID-19 test paused all sports last Monday.
“We will be continuing football workouts tomorrow,” said Beard, who also serves as Du Quoin’s football coach.  “Our student athletes’ health will remain our top priority.  We will be following guidelines set by the IDPH and the IHSA”
While Du Quoin went on a pause the rest of Illinois had to relearn the Phase 4 Return to Play Guidelines just four days after they originally went in to effect.  IHSA re-released those guidelines under the guidance of the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Governor’s Office to ensure that mask are worn by everyone at all times indoors, groups do not go above the 50 person limit indoors, and that no contact drills or physical contact occurs.  Du Quoin will begin following those new guidelines Tuesday.
