LASALLE, Ill. (WJPF) — The administrator of the state-run LaSalle Veterans’ Home, the site of a deadly COVID-19 outbreak, has been fired.
The Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs announced the termination of Angela Mehlbrech Tuesday. The home’s director of nursing has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
Department of Veterans’ Affairs Acting Assistant Director Anthony Vaughn has been named the new interim administrator.
