Harrisburg at Du Quoin football game this Saturday canceled

The Harrisburg Bulldogs Athletic Department twitter account announced Wednesday morning that their varsity football game that had been rescheduled for this Saturday has been canceled.
The game had originally been planned for Friday April 16th at 7pm before being moved last week to Saturday April 17th at 1pm.  It is unlikely the game will be made up with the football season ending on Saturday April 24th.
In a later tweet, Du Quoin confirmed the cancelation and explained it was due to a positive COVID case in their program discovered this morning.

“After… speaking with DuQuoin… our varsity football game is the only level that will be cancelled at this time due to COVID issues.  This situation is something that no one wants to have happen and is totally no one’s fault,” Harrisburg Athletic Director Greg Langley said.  “We knew going into this sports season that things like this could happen.  We were given the chance to play 6 games in football this season, which is more that many thought would be allowed.  We hope DuQuoin is allowed to get their last one in and we will start to prepare for our last game at West Frankfort.”
