CAIRO, Ill. (WJPF) — A project labor agreement has been signed for the Cairo Port project.
In a statement, Governor JB Pritzker said the agreement between the Alexander Cairo Port District and the Illinois AFL-CIO means more than 500 construction jobs for Illinois union workers.
It was announced in August 2020 that $40 million in state funding would be allocated for the construction of the long-planned project. The port district has also secured additional private investments.
