Belleville Althoff plans to pull out of the South Seven after this upcoming academic year. That decision will leave the conference with only five teams.
The decision will affect the remaining teams with IHSA postseasons sometimes requiring a minimum amount of teams to qualify for postseason by winning your conference, like football who requires a minimum of six teams in a conference for conference winners to get an automatic qualifier.
With Althoff leaving, the remaining members of the South Seven will be Marion, Carbondale, Mt. Vernon, Centralia, and Cahokia.
