SIU right-handed pitcher Paul Bonzagni was picked by the Texas Rangers in the 12th round of the MLB Draft on Tuesday. His selection marks the first time in 5 years that multiple Salukis were selected in the same draft.
Bonzagni struggled this past season, starting the season as a starter in the rotation before eventually settling in to a role out of the Saluki bullpen.
The redshirt sophomore went 8-4 in 24 appearances and four starts. He picked up three saves and 50 strike outs while posting a 4.94 ERA.
