HEROD, Ill. (WJPF) – Garden of the Gods will be temporarily closed beginning Monday July 29th.
The closure is necessary for pavement repairs, which will include obliterating, reshaping, and resurfacing Forest Service roads and parking lots. Those repairs will take approximately two to four weeks depending on weather.
Trails will remain open with the only way in and out of Garden of the Gods will be to hike trails in from Hitching Post and Golden Circle trailheads.
The closing also includes Pharaoh Campground starting Sunday July 28th, to ensure there is no overnight camping.
