19-year-old arrested in connection to auto theft

HERRIN, Ill. (WJPF) – The police pursuit of a stolen car ended with a 19-year-old behind bars.

Herrin Police say they received a call early Saturday morning about a vehicle burglary at home on South 16th Street. Police found the vehicle in the area and attempted to pull it over. The driver, 19-year-old Gregory Moore, sped off, driving over 20 miles north on Route 148 into Jefferson County. That’s where Herrin Police called off their chase and it was picked up by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrested Moore and two passengers a short time later.

Police report the vehicle had been recently stolen out of Cahokia.
