WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Two are in custody after fleeing police in Williamson County.
On January 22nd just before midnight, Deputies with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office were performing a special patrol detail in the Village of Colp.
Deputies observed a vehicle traveling westbound without its vehicle lighting illuminated at the intersection of Andrew Springs Road and Attucks Street.
A traffic stop was initiated and as Deputies exited their patrol car the vehicle fled. Deputies working the area were able to deploy stop sticks to stop the vehicle.
The driver, Misty Maze, and passenger, Christopher Gibson, refused to exit the vehicle and had to be removed by Deputies.
While being taken into custody Gibson kicked Deputies in an attempt to escape.
Drug paraphernalia and Methamphetamine was located inside the vehicle along with schedule 2 narcotics.
Maze was cited for Methamphetamine Possession, Possession Of A Controlled Substance, Aggravated Fleeing & Eluding Peace Officer, No Valid Driver’s License, Operating Uninsured Vehicle, Improper Use Of Registration, Disobey Stop Sign, No lights When Required, Speeding, Disobey Traffic Control Device.
Gibson was cited for Methamphetamine Possession, Aggravated Battery To A Peace Officer, and Resisting/Obstructing A Peace Officer.
They were both transported to the Williamson County Jail.
