Teenaged shooter injured in exchange of gunfire

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) – A teenager was shot during an exchange of gunfire Saturday night in Carbondale.

According to Carbondale Police, around 10:00 p.m. shots were fired near the intersection of North Springer and West High Streets. Police say their investigation concluded that a juvenile passenger of a vehicle opened fire on group of people and at least one person in the group fired back.  The juvenile passenger of the car was treated and released from a local hospital for a gunshot wound. No other injuries were reported, however a number of buildings in the area were damaged. 

On Sunday, Carbondale Police say they arrested the juvenile shooter at a home in DeSoto. The juvenile been charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapons and detained at a juvenile facility, pending a court hearing.

The driver of the vehicle the shots were fired from, Tyler Grob, 18, of Carterville was arrested for obstructing justice.
