City of Carbondale cancels Fourth of July fireworks over COVID-19 concerns

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WJPF) — The City of Carbondale has cancelled this year’s annual Independence Day fireworks display due to concerns over COVID-19.
According to a Wednesday afternoon press release, the annual tradition draws large crowds to the campus of SIU Carbondale which are not allowed under Governor JB Pritzker’s stay-at-home order or the Restore Illinois Plan.
