Two sentenced in connection to Carbondale carjacking

MURPHYSBORO, Ill. (WJPF) – Two men have been sentenced in connection to a carjacking earlier this year in Carbondale.

On the night of May 5, authorities say Jamir Jordan, 34, of Chicago, and Dominique Smith, 29, of Carbondale asked for a ride home. Jordan and Smith then took the victims wallets, phones, jewelry, and, ultimately, their vehicle.

The victims were not hurt. The vehicle was abandoned a few blocks away.

Jamir Jordan pleaded guilty to armed robbery and will spend the next 18 years in prison.  Dominique Smith admitted to aggravated robbery and vehicular hijacking.  He’ll spend the next 14 years behind bars.
