SIU tackle Noah Fenske denied NCAA waiver

SIU offensive tackle Noah Fenske transferred from Colorado last December and has been waiting on word from the NCAA on a waiver request ever since.  On Thursday, Fenske finally received an answer.  The NCAA informed Fenske that his waiver has been denied.

Prior to coming to SIU, the junior appeared in 7 games with the Buffaloes in 2022, getting a total of 109 snaps.  In 2021, he appeared in 2 games and got a start as the Colorado center against Minnesota.

Fenske was hoping his request would be approved because he entered the NCAA’s Transfer Portal on December 5, 2022, two days after Deion Sanders was hired to become the new head coach of the Buffaloes.

In the past, players that leave a program because of a coaching change have received approval on their waiver requests.  In March, the NCAA updated their Undergraduate Four-Year Transfer Waiver Process and coaching changes were listed as a reason a Student Athlete’s waiver request would be denied.
