Tuesday afternoon, SIU men’s basketball received another commitment as they near completion of the 2024-25 roster. 6’10 center Jorge Moreno from Lee College (NJCAA) announced his commitment on twitter.

The Salukis add a big man that averaged 9.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game across 56 games in two seasons at Lee. He averaged 2.5 offensive boards per game in that same span.
Moreno, a native of Cananea, Mexico, adds experience to an otherwise young center position for SIU. Incoming freshmen Jaheem Webber and Rolyns Aligbe were the only players that appeared likely to be able to fill the role of a traditional center.
Before Lee, Moreno was at New Mexico State University for the 2021-22 season but redshirted that season. Earlier this offseason, Moreno committed to UTEP but reopened his commitment on April 16.
After speaking with my coaches and family I have decided to open up my recruitment once again. I would like to thank UTEP for recruiting and offering me and I wish them the best going forward.
