SIU Softball’s Jackie Lis earns spot on Softball America Preseason Top 100

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Jackie Lis of the Southern Illinois University softball team has been named to the Softball America 2025 Preseason Top 100 list, as announced on Monday.

Lis comes in as No. 69 in the ranking, and is the lone player from the Missouri Valley Conference to be featured on the list.

The junior was named the MVC Most Valuable Player in 2024 after posting a batting average of .344 with 16 home runs, the second-most in program history. This only trails her own record of 17 set in 2023.

Through two years as a Saluki, Lis has 33 career home runs, which already ranks fifth among career records at SIU. Southern’s shortstop is just six home runs shy of tying Katie Jordan’s record of 39, which was set from 2002-05.

Lis has been featured on the All-MVC First Team in back-to-back seasons to begin her collegiate career, and was also named the 2024 MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

In 111 career games, Lis has a batting average of .350, an on-base percentage of .455, and a slugging percentage of .722. The junior has also totaled 107 runs scored, 93 RBI, 62 walks, 17 doubles, and four triples in her first two seasons.

Lis and the Salukis will begin the 2025 campaign on Feb. 7 in Auburn, Ala, when they face Appalachian State, followed by Auburn and North Carolina in their season-opening tournament.
