The Meridian Bobcats trailed Waltonville 42-37 at the end of the third quarter. But the Bobcats pulled through for a big fourth quarter at the Cobden 1A Sectional Semi-Final to win over the Waltonville Spartans 54-51 on Wednesday night.
The victory advances the Bobcats to the Sectional Finals on Friday night and marks head coach David Davis’ 100th career win.
Davis improves to 100-42 on a head coaching career that began in the 2021-22 season. Since taking over the Bobcats, Davis has put together a minimum of 23 wins in each of his four seasons and led Meridian to a second-place finish in the 1A State Finals last season.
The Bobcats face Goreville on Friday night at the Cobden 1A Sectional Finals at 6PM.
Waltonville won a meeting with Meridian earlier this season 65-53 on December 7th.
Meridian is 25-8 on the season. Waltonville concludes the year with a 28-5 record.
